State polls: PSM names Sivarajan as Kota Damansara candidate

PARTI Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) has named its secretary-general Sivarajan Arumugam as the candidate for the Kota Damansara seat in the upcoming Selangor election.

PSM chairman Dr Michael Jeyakumar Deevaraj made the announcement and handed over the letter of appointment to Sivarajan during a press conference at an event in Kota Damansara here on Sunday (July 16).

Sivarajan is one of the party founders as well as the pioneer of the Subang PSM division when the party was established in 1998.

The 54-year-old candidate has been serving Kota Damansara since 1998 and was a Shah Alam City Council councillor from 2008 to 2013.

He was also the secretary to then-Kota Damansara assemblyman Dr Mohd Nasir Hashim from 2008 to 2013.

"I will champion issues such as the objection towards PJD Link, the relocation of Sungai Buloh nurseries, low-cost flats and forest reserve," he said.

Sivarajan also contested in the Kota Damansara state seat in the 2018 14th General Election, garnering only 435 votes.

He went against Pakatan Harapan-PKR incumbent Kota Damansara assemblyman Shatiri Mansor (26,440 votes), Barisan Nasional-Umno Halimaton Saadiah Bohan (10,737) and PAS' Siti Rohaya Ahad (5,633).
