FITNESS studio manager Muhammad Afiq Suhaile and doctor Veena Magarita Richard Santhanan have been crowned Supermodel Universe Malaysia International 2023 winners in the male and female categories respectively.

Muhammad Afiq, 27, the third of five children from Taiping in Perak, said he was overwhelmed with the win at the event held at the Royale Chulan Damansara Hotel in Petaling Jaya.

“I hope all the experience and training I went through will help me in the future.”

He hoped to use his platform to encourage more people to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Veena Magarita, 31, who works at a hospital in Petaling Jaya, said she was ecstatic and expressed her gratitude to Supermodel national director Ammetta Malhotra Bergin for her guidance.

“I worked hard to win this pageant title,” she said.

Veena Magarita, who is of Chinese and Indian parentage, described herself as a goal- driven individual.

As the Supermodel Universe Malaysia 2023 winners, Muhammad Afiq and Veena Magarita will represent Malaysia at the finals that will be held later this year in Malaysia.

The competition drew eight male models and 13 female participants, with about 400 people in the audience.

Four children took part in the children’s category and the title was won by seven-year-old Yumna Ismail.

The winners were selected by a panel of judges that comprised industry experts and key sponsors.

The competition was organised by Bergin, who is the licence holder.

Bergin said that she was proud that the event went smoothly with the support of a lot of friends and sponsors.
