THE Business Networking Club of Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya (BNC) hosted the Silently Loud CSR Awards Night 2022 in support of the Silent Teddies Bakery’s Revitalising Building Project.

With the objective of raising RM250,000 for the Community Service Centre for the Deaf (CSCD), the event was held at HGH Convention Centre in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, comprising mainly entrepreneurs and representatives from various associations and societies, including CSCD.

Proceeds are used to upgrade the CSCD and ensure entrepreneurship and vocational skill courses can be carried out in a conducive classroom environment to help hearing-impaired graduates run the Silent Teddies Bakery.

The Silent Teddies Bakery is a social enterprise aimed at empowering the deaf community and other people with disabilities, while CSCD is a non-profit and non-government voluntary organisation that addresses the needs of the hearing-impaired.

The money raised will go towards developing a learning centre to support hearing-impaired education as well as give special attention to children and youths in need, including educationally excluded people with disabilities.

This centre will also allocate space for a bakery, cafe and arts or event space to cultivate the students’ entrepreneurial skills and independence.

The awards night witnessed the signing of several memorandums of understanding, with selected companies joining forces with the bakery to provide job opportunities to hearing-impaired individuals who have successfully attended their lessons and training at CSCD.

CSR awards were also presented to several deserving recipients.

The guests of honour were Cik Puan Besar Hajjah Kalsom Abdullah and Tengku Datuk Dr Hishammuddin Zaizi Tengku Azman Shah.

Other notable guests included Che Puan Hezeita Hafidz, Moroccan Embassy regional political affairs chief Yasser Ibourk, Peru ambassador Ricardo Estanislao Morote Canales and Colombian charge d’affaires Raul Sanchez.
