Kota Damansara park renamed Taman Kota@PJ

THE Taman Jelutong park in Kota Damansara has been renamed Taman Kota@PJ.

Petaling Jaya mayor Datuk Mohamad Azhan Md Amir said the park was renamed with the aim of making it a more attractive recreation spot by upgrading its facilities.

He said the park would have a pleasing, sustainable and inclusive design to provide a positive impact on social development and local lifestyle.

“This is being done to preserve and protect the natural environment in Petaling Jaya,” he said during the soft launch when renaming the park.

The park covers over eight hectares of land. It consists of over five hectares of preserved forest, 0.3ha water catchment area and 2.63ha open space and recreation area.

It is strategically located in the centre of Kota Damansara, near residential areas and a Mass Rapid Transit station which provides easy access to park users.

The park is part of areas to see improvement under the Petaling Jaya Landscape Master Plan.

The master plan emphasises the thematic approach of a low-carbon city by highlighting the Low- Carbon Landscape for the landscape transformation programme of the Petaling Jaya Smart, Sustainable and Resilient 2030 initiative.

The park will undergo three phases of development to improve facilities for users.
