Johor govt allocates more than RM1mil for development in Parit Sulong constituency

THE JOHOR government has allocated more than RM1mil to the Parit Sulong parliamentary constituency for development purposes, including an emergency allocation of RM312,000 for flood mitigation in the Sri Medan state constituency.

Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi was on a working visit to Parit Sulong on Monday (Oct 17) and conducted meet-the-people session at three locations, where he announced a total allocation of RM510,000, including RM400,000 from the National Unity Ministry, to be channelled to four Chinese new villages in Parit Sulong.

This included allocations for schools, temples and public facilities, among others.

In Kampung Haji Noor, the Machap assemblyman said that the area had been recently hit by floods.

"I understand the problems faced by the flood victims. As such, for emergency allocation for flood-prone areas in Sri Medan, I approved an allocation of RM312,000," he said.

Parit Sulong MCA division chief Datuk Tan Teck Poh said that he was overjoyed that the Mentri Besar was taking care of the needs of the Chinese community.

"Onn Hafiz is a good leader and he went to the ground to listen to what the people want. This is a characteristic of a good leader.

"Each of the four Chinese new villages will be getting RM100,000, which will improve the villages," he said, adding that there were more than 6,000 people living in the four villages.

insurance agent N. Logendran, 30, said that he welcomed the good news announced by Onn Hafiz in Parit Sulong as the area was in need of infrastructure development.

The father of two added that it was very kind of Onn Hafiz to allocate RM10,000 for the Hindu temple in Sri Medan that would benefit the Indian community in Parit Sulong.

Housewife Rubiah Ahmad, 61, said that she was happy that the state government would be upgrading the Dewan Orang Ramai Sri Sulong.

"It is in dire need of upgrade as the lighting is quite dim and some of the tiles in the hall are cracked. Hopefully, the upgrade can be done as soon as possible," she said.
