Tourism Johor is adding a complaints feature to its Johor Tourism Interchange (JTI) app to allow tourists to report any problems they encounter during their stay.

Johor tourism, environment, heritage and culture committee chairman K. Raven Kumar said tourists were required to check in digitally at the location before reporting an issue.

“We want to expand the features in our app to help domestic and international tourists find useful information and to also ensure that they receive the best service.

“Every tourism player must ensure their place is up to safety and cleanliness standards because we have given them ample time,” he said after the launch of Majestic Johor Safe & Majestic Johor Clean 2022, as well as Majestic Johor Award 2022 in Johor Baru.

Any complaints from tourists will be taken seriously and parties involved will have to rectify their mistakes immediately, he said.

“Johor was the number one tourist spot in 2021, and after international borders reopened, our hotels have been fully booked, especially during the weekend.

“We are also the only state that has an app to guide tourists in places to visit,” said Raven Kumar.

Separately, he said the Johor Dive programme had been postponed to July next year because of the monsoon season.

The programme was one of the events that was slated to close this year’s tourism activities before the Majestic Johor Award in December, he said.

“It was meant to be held over three days, from Oct 8 to 10.

“We made all the preparations, but because of the inclement weather, we have decided to play it safe,” he explained.

He added that the island of Mersing would usually be closed to all tourism activities during the monsoon season and operations would resume once the monsoon had ended.

Among the activities planned were the release of baby sea turtle hatchlings, removal of crown-of-thorns starfish, hiking on Pulau Tinggi as well as diving in the waters of Pulau Aur and Pulau Mensirip.

Raven Kumar said that although the number of activities in national parks had also been reduced, there were other places people could visit during the rainy season.
