Hybrid expo returns to advance solutions for building industry

THE International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition (Archidex) 2022 will welcome 37,000 visitors from June 29 to July 2 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Organised by the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and C.I.S, it will be held in a hybrid format via the Archidex Online digital platform while physically hosting building industry professionals, delegates, buyers and other trade visitors.

It will feature 400 exhibitors along with DATUM:KL conferences, talks, product launches and business networking sessions held across the four days of the exhibition.

Other highlights at Archidex 2022 will include Future City Ideas Competition, Architalent Competition (Asean level) and PAM Members’ Night.

PAM president Assoc Prof (I) Sarly Adre Sarkum said: “DATUM is one of the largest architecture conferences in Asia and we expect about 2,000 architects, developers and designers.

“We will focus on finding ways to advance the building industry by incorporating digital technology and sustainability in our initiatives.

“I believe that in order to stay relevant, architects must spearhead change.

“The Future City concept that will be highlighted at the exhibition will provide inspiration,” he said.

Meanwhile, C.I.S president Datuk Vincent Lim touted Archidex as a multi-faceted platform that would help building industry captains and other professionals to recover and rebuild stronger businesses in the post-pandemic era.

“While there is potential for massive growth in this borderless world, there is still a need for physical events to allow visitors to see, touch and feel the showcased products and materials,” said Lim, who is also Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations president.

Another exhibition activity is The Forum @ PAM Pavilion, which will feature renowned speakers imparting their thoughts on hot topics such as air taxis, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), metaverse and blockchains.

Archidex’s premier partner Taiwan Excellence will be showcasing 10 award-winning brands at its pavilion themed “Modern Living Redefined”.

Malaysian buyers will get a closer look at Taiwan’s top brands and their ground- breaking technologies and materials as well as home and commercial solutions.

Archidex will also feature its strategic partners, which include Milwaukee Tool Malaysia, Topmix Resources Sdn Bhd, Ideal Standard & Armitage Shanks and X’traseal.
