Water woes in Sibu to be solved by July

Water supply problems in Sibu Jaya and Eco Garden in Sibu will most likely be resolved by the end of July, says Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing (pic) in a statement.

“I thank state Utilities and Telecomunications Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi for his commitment to meet with relevant departments to solve the long-standing problem.

“We hope the residents will finally be able to enjoy normal water supply by the end of July.”

Tiong hoped the water supply problems plaguing the residents for the past seven years would not happen again.

“The residents of the four-storey low-cost flats in Sibu Jaya went through unbearable stress as they had to carry pails of water up several flights of stairs daily.

Tiong also said Eco Garden residents were still not able to apply for water meters even though they have been servicing their bank loans and paying rent monthly.

He hoped the authorities would not turn a blind eye to problems faced by the residents there.

“Government departments must ensure people’s basic needs are always met,” he said.
