Warning signs at waterfalls highlight lurking danger

SOME 37 students from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) have put up banners at the Batu Berangkai waterfalls in Kampar, Perak, to create awareness of the dangers in the recreational area.

The public relations students from the Kampar campus carried out the task as part of their corporate social responsibility course project.

Project director Liew Xin Ci said their objective was to raise awareness among visitors to the waterfalls.

“The project aims to highlight the dangers of waterfalls and to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.

“We created three banners to educate people, highlighting the risk of drowning and alerting them to the other dangers that lurk,” said Liew.

Batu Berangkai Village Development and Safety Committee representative Nordin Bahak said he hoped that there would be more collaboration between UTAR and the village in the near future.

Also present was Kampar District councillor Ng Wah Leng.
