Scouting award for Penang governor

Penang’s eighth Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak has been awarded the Bintang Semangat Padi Kelas Pertama (Emas), the highest Scouting award from the Scouts Association of Malaysia.

The Bintang Semangat Padi is bestowed upon outstanding figures plus state and national leaders.

The award was presented during a proclamation ceremony at E&O Hotel in Lebuh Farquhar, George Town, on Thursday.

National Scouts Chief Commissioner Mej Jen Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zin Bidin presented the award.

At the ceremony, Ahmad Fuzi was also appointed the patron for the Scouts Association of Malaysia.

Ahmad Fuzi, who was sworn in as the eighth Yang di-Pertua Negri of Penang this year, used to be a boy scout when he was at Bukit Mertajam High School.

He remains actively engaged in the development of the Scouts Association.
