Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG) plans to submit its development plan to the state government by year end.

Mayor Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman said the Pasir Gudang Local Plan (RTPG) was still being finalised.

“RTPG aims to fulfil all stakeholders’ wishes for Pasir Gudang while taking into consideration the economic, social and environmental impacts of development.

“Our main priority is the safety and welfare of the people in Pasir Gudang,” he said, adding that the local plan would cover all 24 zones.

Asman Shah shared that the city council was also planning to ease licensing conditions for residents wishing to venture into entrepreneurship, especially youths and single mothers.

“The carpark at Dataran Al-Hamra, Menara Aqabah will be the place where single mothers can sell their products.

“If response is good, we plan to expand the programme. We do not want them to set up shop by the roadside,” he said.

He added MBPG planned to create a database of petty traders in Pasir Gudang to ensure they operate legally.

“Assisting them to do business is the best way to help the poor instead of giving one-off cash assistance,” he said.
