Kind bikers spreading joy

ABOUT 20 children fighting cancer were treated to a buka puasa meal by several high-powered motorcycle clubs at Hompton By The Beach Hotel in Penang.

Besides the sumptuous spread, the children from Childhood Cancer Association Northern Region (Foccan) received ‘duit raya’ too.

Foccan chairman Maznah Tayib, who was present, said the event was organised to spread festive cheer.

“The children are now in a joyous mood and I hope this happiness will continue up to Hari Raya, ” she said.

She praised the motorcycle club members for making the gathering a success.

Maznah said Foccan raised more than RM4,000 from individuals and from 10 motorcycle clubs.

Present at the event were members of Penang Motor Sports Club, Bike Riders Big Bike Shop, Kelab Utara Bikers, Vimana

Bikers Club, Harley Owners Group Penang, Wheelers Bikers, Tribal Riders Malaysia, Gold Wing Riders Malaysia, Ipoh Super Bikers Club and El Chong Motor Trading Sdn Bhd.

Kelab Utara Bikers president Ahmad Kamarudin Idris said the club was active in charity work.

“This year, we decided to take part in this event and bring cheer to the cancer-stricken children and their parents, ” he said.

The club contributed cash to Foccan to help the association run their daily activities.

The event was attended by Penang police’s Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department deputy chief Asst Comm Tan Cheng Shan, who represented state police chief Comm Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan.
