Students set to benefit from virtual leadership summit

Saifuddin says the webinar provides a platform for future leaders to develop crucial knowledge, values and skills.

EDUCITY Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd is hosting the inaugural Educity Leadership Summit 2021 until Feb 11.

Themed “Leadership Exploration and Development (L.E.A.D)”, the summit includes a webinar series designed for student leaders from higher education institutions.

Over 2,000 participants are from local and international institutions in Malaysia, as well as from neighbouring countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Libya, United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

EduCity Iskandar managing director Wan Ahmad Saifuddin Wan Ahmad Radzi said the free webinar would help future leaders to develop crucial knowledge, values and skills via a sharing-experience session by world-class sports-related figures and industry leaders.

“The collaboration with an international partner such as Sensible Soccer is the start of the education city’s aspiration in introducing more invaluable content to EduCity students, as part of the strategy under EduCity 2.0.

“EduCity is also setting itself apart as a unique platform to host more programmes and forums this year to provide sustainable and long-term solutions or kick-start discussions on key areas with the many issues and challenges in the education industry, ” he said in Johor Baru.

He added that among the presenters for the programmes were Sensible Soccer director and chairman Mike Phelan, who is also Manchester United assistant manager, and Sensible Soccer sport psychology director David Horrocks.

Others include Twimbit Pte Ltd founder and managing director Manoj Menon, Gigxglobal co-founder and chief executive officer Shareen Shariza Abdul Ghani and Crest Malaysia senior vice-president Dr Nor Azmi Alias.

“We are calling all students from higher education institutions, public and private, local and international, to join us and benefit from every webinar session, ” said Saifuddin.

He added that participants would receive e-certificates at the end of the session.

Meanwhile, Phelan said the programme could develop leadership skills along with development in communication and team-building to enable students to function effectively as leaders through sports.

“Some sports even help participants to learn to treat competitors with respect, identify strengths and weaknesses, develop winning strategies and manage time effectively.

“Playing sports also helps students develop confidence and make a quick decision, which is necessary to succeed in any leadership role.

“Sensible Soccer is a unique company bringing together academic theory and applied practice, and we are happy to work with EduCity Iskandar on this upcoming webinar, ” he said.

Register at and the first 100 participants will receive exclusive Sensible Soccer merchandise.
