Foundation contributes 3,000 books to 12 schools

Yayasan MRCB donated 3,000 books worth RM50,000 to 12 selected schools in the Klang Valley and Penang.

The book donation is in support of the national campaign called “Dekad Membaca Kebangsaan” by the Education Ministry.

The 10-year national campaign aims to make Malaysia a “Reading Nation” by 2030.

“Through this contribution, the foundation hopes to make reading part of Malaysian lifestyle, especially among the young generation, ”

“This initiative is also intended to contribute to the nation’s efforts to democratise access to quality reading materials, ” said Yayasan MRCB trustee Datuk Shamrat Sen Gupta at the handover ceremony.

SK Brickfields 2 headmistress Rohana Abdullah said, “We want all our students to be lifelong readers and this habit needs to be inculcated from a young age.

“Having a library filled with a variety of quality books greatly helps us achieve this goal.

“The books received from Yayasan MRCB will benefit our students, ” she added.

The 12 schools that received the book donation are SK Brickfields 2 and SMK (P) Air Panas in Kuala Lumpur, SK Kg Johan Setia, SK Kampung Medan, SK Pendamaran Jaya, SK Kg Pendamar, SK Bukit Rahman Putra, SK Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh and SMK Bukit Rahman Putra in Selangor, as well as SK Mak Mandin, SMK Convent Butterworth and SMK Kampong Kastam in Penang.
