JUNIOR Chamber International Bandar Klang and Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang (HTAR) jointly organised a blood donation campaign at Aeon Bukit Raja in Klang where a total of 321 people registered as donors and 251 pints of blood were collected.

Klang Municipal councillor Ngian Yoke Moi, who launched the event, said that due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and enforcement of movement control order, people could not donate blood and consequently blood banks faced a serious shortage.

The blood donation campaign organising chairman Rebecca Lee said their aim was to increase supply at the national blood bank and avoid delay in surgeries due to supply shortage.

She stressed that blood transfusions were crucial in trauma cases as well as for cancer and other medical treatment.

“We encourage people, especially the young and active, to donate blood. We want to see a circle of support develop, ” added Lee.
