Outstanding young entrepreneurs to be honoured at 2026 JCI awards

PETALING JAYA: A national platform recognising Malaysia’s most innovative young entrepreneurs is set to take centre stage in Ipoh this year, following the launch of the 2026  Junior Chamber International (JCI) Creative Young Entrepreneur Award (CYEA).

JCI Kinta announced the programme at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.

This marks the first time the local chapter will host a national-level JCI initiative.

The annual award, introduced by JCI Malaysia in 2007, aims to recognise young entrepreneurs who demonstrate creativity, innovation and leadership in their respective industries, while contributing to the country’s broader entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Organising chairperson Skyller Lua said the programme is more than just an award, describing it as a platform to push aspiring entrepreneurs to step forward and grow.

“JCI CYEA serves as a call to action for young entrepreneurs to challenge themselves, seize opportunities and make a meaningful impact in their industries,” he said.

Organising chairperson for the 2026 edition, Jasper Ngai Chee Foong, said hosting the award in Ipoh represents a significant milestone for JCI Kinta.

“This is the first time this prestigious national award will be held in Ipoh, and we hope it will help position the city as a growing hub for entrepreneurship,” he said.

Meanwhile, JCI Malaysia national president, JCI Senator Vincent Leng, highlighted the programme’s broader role in nurturing future leaders.

“JCI CYEA is not just a competition, but a journey to discover and develop talented young individuals who will contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.

The event also featured sharing sessions by CYEA ambassador Alan Tee and past winner Vincent Tiew, who spoke about perseverance, innovation and the role of such platforms in shaping business growth.

Nominations for the 2026 award are now open until June 12.

Eligible candidates must be Malaysian citizens aged 18 to 40 and hold key leadership roles in a company. A nomination fee of RM1,500 applies.

In addition to the award, organisers introduced the “Entrepreneur’s AI Growth Lab,” a training series combining online and offline sessions to equip participants with skills needed in an increasingly AI-driven business environment.

The programme will culminate in an award ceremony on Sept 26 at the RTM Auditorium in Ipoh, where outstanding young entrepreneurs from across the country will be recognised.

Organisers are encouraging entrepreneurs, business leaders and the public to nominate individuals who exemplify innovation, leadership and entrepreneurial excellence as part of efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s next generation of business leaders.
