THE Sentuhan Kasih Yayasan Petronas festive programme aims to bring joy to 1,500 less privileged Malaysians nationwide this Chinese New Year.

From Jan 15 to Feb 8, Yayasan Petronas is collaborating with state agencies, non-governmental organisations and volunteers to hand out basic necessities, household items, hampers and ang pow to families in need.

Volunteers will be taking part in clean-up activities and the beneficiaries will be treated to lion dance performances to usher in the Year of the Rat.

At this year’s inaugural Sentuhan Kasih Tahun Baru Cina programme, Yayasan Petronas chief executive officer Lita Osman said, “We hope to fulfil the needs of less privileged Malaysian

families and individuals and put smiles on their faces this new year through this programme.”

Hazelyn Eliza Kamaruzaman, a Petronas volunteer, said, “I believe even a small act of kindness can impact the lives of those in need and make their celebration more meaningful.”

The Sentuhan Kasih Yayasan Petronas programme is part of the foundation’s community wellbeing and development focus area, initiated to coincide with major festive celebrations in Malaysia.
