DBKL expediting Sentul road acquisition process

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is expediting the land acquisition process for Jalan Taman Dato Senu in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, following concerns over closure of the privately owned road.

Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud (pic) said social media users raised concerns after the road, a 30-year access route to Taman Dato Senu from Jalan Sentul, was closed.

He said the land acquisition process began in February, with the application submitted to the Department of the Director General of Lands and Mines for approval.

“Once approval is granted, the land will be gazetted and compensation will be paid to the landowner.

“We hope the process can be completed within three to four months,” he said at the launching of Downtown Kuala Lumpur Grants Programme 2026 by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh at Odeon Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Fadlun, however, cautioned that the progress depended largely on whether the landowner was satisfied with the compensation offered, as the land valuation process was still ongoing.

Based on media reports, the landowner issued a notice on June 29 informing the public of the road’s closure starting July 7.

In the notice, the landowner also said the road was never handed over to the authorities, so the public had been using it without the landowner’s permission.

Fadlun urged all parties involved to remain patient, stressing that the acquisition process was underway.
