MIRI: Dr Teo Yu Keng has taken to task the state Department of Environment (DOE) and Natural Resources and Environment Board of Sarawak (NREB) for failing to stop the wildfires and subsequent haze affecting Miri and Kuala Baram districts.
The Miri MP questioned why no punitive action had ever been taken against big private landowners for the forest fires on their land, and said authorities must investigate if these landowners were using fires to clear their land.
