Mondelez International has launched its second limited edition Malaysian flavour in conjunction with National Day celebrations.

The Cadbury Dairy Milk Durian variant, a delightful blend of bold durian flavour combined with silky smooth milk chocolate, was created exclusively for the Malaysian market after its first localised flavour, Cadbury Kopi C, was launched last year.

In an effort to also pay homage to Malaysian culture, Cadbury has once again collaborated with cartoonist Datuk Mohammad Nor Khalid, popularly known as Lat, to incorporate his cartoon illustrations on selected Cadbury packaging.

Together with the new limited edition flavours, Cadbury Dairy Milk’s classic flavours, such as hazelnut, almond as well as fruit and nut, will once again be wrapped in customised sleeves featuring Lat’s unforgettable characters.

The illustrations on the packaging feature Lat, the Kampung Boy, working harmoniously in the community to build a bridge, a gathering to feast on durian and another drawing where Lat and Epit plant a durian tree together.

The launch of the durian flavour and collaboration on cartoon illustrations took place at Sunway Pyramid’s Blue Concourse.

Present were Mondelez International category planning and activation head Ivan Ho, Mondelez Malaysia chocolates category manager Rahul Mathur, Lat and Mondelez International South-East Asia chocolates associate director Vikram Karwal.

The weekend launch themed “Dusun in the City” was complete with nostalgic activities such as top spinning, carom and durian bowling, a twist on the traditional coconut bowling — all to evoke the simple good old days.

Speaking at the event, Lat said, “I am very excited to continue collaborating with Cadbury for the second year in a row.

“I was even more thrilled when I discovered they were launching the durian flavour as it is a taste that I grew up loving.

“This new flavour will truly bring me and our fellow Malay-sians back to our good old days when we used to visit durian orchards, spending time with families while savouring the delicious taste of the king of fruits.”

Mathur added, “We recognise the Malaysian pride when it comes to local delicacies and aim to continue delighting our consumers with flavours they can be proud of.”

The Cadbury Dairy Milk Durian is available at all major hypermarkets and supermarkets nationwide at RM8.50 for 165g until Sept 30.

Limited edition gift boxes are also available for special occasions.
