Upset by workers’ dorm

One block or two? The almost completed ‘one-block’ workers’ dorm in Batu Maung that consists of two structures connected by walkway bridges.

A HEATED dialogue session between state leaders and representatives of nine Batu Maung residents associations demonstrated the pressure of living on land-starved Penang island, made worse by social ills arising from the 100,000 blue- collared foreign workers in the state.

The residents were protesting the development of a foreign workers’ dorm in their area and state exco member Jagdeep Singh Deo of DAP bore the brunt of their criticism.
