The 16 are Mohd Sharizat Zulkipli, Mohd Helmi Mohd Hanip, Kamarudzaman Sanusi, Shoba Selvarajoo and Abdul Manaff Yusof from PKR; Ooi Haw Voon, Yugarajah Palanisamy and Ghandimathi Suppiah from DAP, Mariam Abdul Rashid, Ismail Zakaria, Siti Sarah Izham, Mohamad Jamil Abdul Rahim, and Danial Al-Rashid Haron Aminar Rashid from Amanah; Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Arshad, Bismi Zulhadi Mohd Nor and Wan Dzahanurin Ahmad from Bersatu.

Abdul Manaff Yusof and Kamarudzaman Sanusi had served as councillors in the past.

Some of the new councillors served under a different local council, one of whom is Ghandimathi, who served as Petaling Jaya City Councillor from 2016-2018.

As an MBSA councillor, she will oversee Zone 20 that covers Section U10, 14 and 15.

She said she was glad to be given another opportunity to serve the people.

Another familiar face is Ooi Haw Voon, who is former personal assistant to Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok and Selangor state executive councillor Teng Chang Khim, serving both of them for five years each.

“I’m very excited. It is time for me to go down to the field and learn more. It’s time for me to contribute more,” she said.

Mohd Shazrizat, a former officer to Kota Damansara PKR coordinator Razlan Jalaluddin, said he is ready to serve the community in the Kota Damansara constituency including new villages where there are problems of rubbish and stray animals.

He hopes to help empower the people in his area.

Councillors who are continuing their service from previous terms are Afzainizam Abdul Rahman, Zulnizam Shahrani, Datin Anizan Othman, and Rozaina Hamzih from PKR and Siow Fun Yean, Muhammad Shakir Ameer Mohideen, and Papparaidu Veraman from DAP.

Petaling District Orang Besar Datuk Emran Kadir completes the list of 24 councillors.

Shah Alam mayor Datuk Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad advised the councillors to adhere to the rules and guidelines of the city council.

He stressed that councillors must not offer letters of support for any work, supply or services on behalf of the city council or state government.
