Children from Rumah Anak Kesayangan enjoying their breaking fast meal at Eastin Hotel.
RAMADAN is a time for compassion and both Eastin Hotel Penang and Lexis Suites Penang were happy to do their bit for the lessfortunate.
During a celebration at Swez Brasserie at Eastin Hotel, 17 children from Rumah Anak Kesayangan in Bukit Jambul were given duit raya and goodie bags.
The hotel also presented the home with a computer, two table fans and RM700 cash.
Eastin Hotel Penang sales and marketing director Choo Chan Chan said the event was meant to forge closer ties with the community.
The children were also treated to a sumptuous buffet spread which included treats such as Sup Gear Box, kambing golek, chicken, mutton kurma, briyani and salmon with chocolate topped bread pudding for dessert.
Over at Lexis Suites Penang, a total of 25 children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Kesayangan Pulau Pinang were treated to an iftar (breaking of Ramadan fast) meal.
The children sampled delights such as Kampung Melayu Lambuk, Sotong Masak Lemak, Daging Rendang Tok, Lemang Pulut Putih with Serunding Ayam with rojak. They had ais kacang for dessert.
Bayan Lepas assemblyman Azrul Mahathir Aziz, who launched the event, said it was noble of the hotel to host the programme for the children.
Hotel general manager Ben Ho also presented RM4,080 cash to the home’s founder Mohamad Dalep. Each child also received stationary sets.
Adding to the excitement were the hotel’s sports and recreation team who organised games and dances with the children.
