OLD friends exchanged warm greetings as MCA veterans and current leaders gathered with representatives of Chinese guilds and associations for the party’s annual veterans’ luncheon in conjunction with Chinese New Year (CNY).

Nearly 400 people attended the festive gathering at Wisma MCA in Kuala Lumpur that saw familiar faces from different generations of the political party.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the luncheon gathering also reflected the party’s long-standing collaboration with Chinese guilds and associations.

He added that the partnership had shaped its role in both community and national affairs.

Also present at the luncheon were MCA veterans Tan Sri Tan Koon Swan, Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, Tan Sri Liow Tiong Lai and Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon as well as Chinese community leaders Tan Sri Koo Yuen Kim, Federation of Seven Clan Associations chairman Leong Siew Kam, former Jiao Zong president Datuk Ong Chiow Chuen, former Hua Zong president Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah and UTAR pro-chancellor Tan Sri Wong See Wah.

Over the decades, MCA has worked closely with community leaders to address challenges, support social initiatives and contribute to Malaysia’s stability and progress.
