MELAKA: He is a newcomer but Melaka DAP organising secretary Seah Shoo Chin is not perturbed about taking on two “heavyweight” candidates for the Kesidang state seat.
The 35-year-old former systems engineer will face former party comrade Goh Leong San (Independent) and former deputy state exco and Bemban incumbent assemblyman Datuk Ng Choon Koon from Barisan Nasional for the state constituency under the Kota Melaka parliamentary seat.
He said he was confident the voters in Kesidang would continue to support DAP.
Seah, better known as Allex among the people, said Goh had contributed a lot to Melaka DAP before quitting the party and expressed his appreciation for the latter’s contribution.
“Goh is a good man but we need to move forward in order to achieve a bigger objective for the people.
“I wish him all the best and I believe the voters in Kesidang will stay with us,” he said.
Seah confessed that he never expected to be fielded as a candidate in Kesidang as he did most of his ground work for the Jasin parliamentary seat.
He said the voters in Kesidang had accepted him as their candidate despite the fact that he was not a local.
“Most of them know me because of what I have done for the people in Jasin,” he said.
On the perception that Kesidang is a “sure win” seat for Pakatan, Seah said he would not take it for granted.
“I will do my best and go all out to woo the voters in Kesidang,” he said, adding that his team members will also go out to meet the voters and get their support.
In GE13, former DAP member Chin Choong Seong secured 9,443 votes to win with a 3,818 majority vote against Lim Eng Teck of Barisan.
