MEDIA practitioners in Penang had a fabulous time during the Rapid Penang media appreciation dinner.
Over 100 journalists, photographers and videographers were treated to a scrumptious dinner at the event held at Eastin Hotel recently.
Several Rapid Penang personnel also entertained the media with dance performances.
In his speech, Rapid Bus chief executive officer Mohd Azam Omar thanked press members for their support towards the company.
“With assistance from the mass media, we were able to convey better and accurate information on our bus services to the public.
“Rapid Penang started in Penang in 2007 and the ridership number had increased over the years.
“We recorded a 29.5mil ridership in 2017,” he said.
Mohd Azam added that currently the company has a total of 404 buses for Rapid Penang and Rapid Kamunting.
“We have over 300 buses in use daily covering 63 routes in Penang and Kamunting in Perak.”
He also shared the history of Rapid Penang and its initiative for 2018 like collaborating with agencies and authorities to promote greater public transportation in Penang, provide seamless connectivity with Rapid Ferry and to install Passenger Information System in 34 selected bus stops on Penang Island and the mainland.
The night ended with a lucky draw where lucky pressmen walked away with prizes such as smart watches, headphones, USB drives and bags.
