PETALING Jaya City Council (MBPJ) honoured its top performing staff from last year and those retiring this year at the Excellent Service Awards Ceremony 2024 and Retirees Appreciation Ceremony 2025.
A total of 147 full-time officers and employees, four “contract for service” staff and 26 soon-to-be retirees were honoured.
Five individuals were also recognised with a Special Mayor’s Award, while tokens of appreciation were presented to the next-of-kin of two staff members who passed away.
“This annual ceremony is held to show MBPJ’s appreciation and recognition of dedication shown by its staff throughout last year,” MBPJ’s corporate communications unit said in a media statement.
“The Special Mayor’s Award was divided into two categories – service innovation (technical and management) and innovative leadership.
“The Special Mayor’s Award for the service innovation category is in recognition of staff who contributed ideas in generating and creating something of positive impact, both within and outside of MBPJ.
“The recipient of the Special Mayor’s Award for the innovative leadership category serves as a role model in carrying out tasks that led to excellence in organisational management.”
Petaling Jaya mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon urged MBPJ staff to continue in their pursuit of excellence, enhancing skills in various fields and strengthening innovation in services.
“We are facing dynamic changes in a global environment.
“Therefore, for MBPJ to maintain a resilient city, we need a workforce that is knowledgeable, skilled in information and communications technology, possesses efficient governance and is competitive in facing change,” he said in his speech at the MBPJ Banquet Hall in Jalan Yong Shook Lin, Petaling Jaya.
Mohamad Zahri congratulated award recipients and extended his appreciation to those retiring soon.
He hopes that the recognition will motivate MBPJ staff to continue contributing and providing the best service to folks in Petaling Jaya and Selangor.
