A RM10mil allocation has been set aside under Budget 2026 for the maintenance of Fire and Rescue Department quarters nationwide.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department director Jamri Masran said this included upgrading 1,545 units at the quarters, with 169 units located in Sarawak.

He said Sarawak would also receive 25 light operation vehicles, among the largest allocations given to any state, as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade the department’s equipment and vehicle fleet.

“Additionally, RM123,632 has been approved for upgrading facilities at the surau managed by the department.

“This allocation is intended for the procurement of raw materials as well as spare parts for maintenance and repair works, in accordance with the approved procurement limits,” said Jamri at the department’s monthly assembly in Sibu.

During the event, he also congratulated eight students, all children of firefighters, for their outstanding performance in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

“This achievement not only brings pride to their families, but also reflects positively on the entire department,” he said.

Jamri also expressed his appreciation to media partners for their continued cooperation in disseminating information and raising public awareness of fire safety.

Also present at the event was Sibu Fire and Rescue Depart-ment Zone 4 chief Andy Alie.
