If you're looking for a place to enjoy the Kuala Lumpur skyline, Puncak Alop in Ampang, Selangor is worth a visit.

But don't confuse Puncak Alop with the popular Ampang Lookout Point, which is located at the base of the hill.

This newly-launched lookout point gives you unobstructed views of the city. From its main viewing platform, Puncak Hauz, you can spot all the iconic towers including KLCC, Merdeka 118, the Exchange TRX and KL Tower.

The site is also a convenient stop for cyclists and hikers. There are facilities like toilets, a prayer room and a restaurant.

The first phase of the area is complete and is expected to be fully ready by the end of next year, with additions like caravan and glamping sites, as well as an observation tower.

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and state local government and tourism committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim officiated the launch recently.

The project is a collaboration between the Selangor government, Tourism Selangor, Kajang Municipal Council, the Selangor Forestry Department and private partners.

As part of Visit Selangor and Visit Malaysia campaigns, this new attraction is set to become an ecotourism destination in the state.
