Lower fares, higher opportunity to travel. This is what Firefly is offering to Malaysian travellers looking to explore neighbouring Thailand.
In celebration of its new Krabi route, Firefly has recently launched a joint marketing campaign with Tourism Authority of Thailand. Set to run until Oct 12, the campaign offers travellers the chance to fly RM138 all-in one way for travel from Nov 17 to Aug 31, 2026.
Firefly’s new direct flight (commencing Nov 17) will fly from Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 to Krabi International Airport with a frequency of seven flights per week.
It complements the airline’s popular Penang to Phuket route. More information is available on Firefly’s website.
Next month will also see the reopening of AirAsia’s domestic services from Cebu, Philippines. From Nov 15, AirAsia will resume flights on three routes: Cebu-Davao (18 times weekly), Cebu-Caticlan (11 times weekly) and Cebu-Iloilo (four times weekly).
These vital feeder routes will directly support the return of the Cebu-KL service that will operate 14 weekly flights, as well as the launch of the Cebu-Macao three weekly flights, both commencing Nov 15.

The same date will see AirAsia holding a concert – featuring top Original Pilipino Music artists – to celebrate its Cebu hub comeback.
Meanwhile, Batik Air continues to expand its flight offerings from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang in Selangor.
On Dec 8, the airline will launch these new routes: Subang-Singapore, Subang-Jakarta, Subang-Langkawi and Subang-Johor Baru.
The same date will also see the launch of new routes from Penang as well as Ipoh. The airline is introducing direct flights from Penang International Airport to Singapore, Medan (Indonesia), and Kuching (Sarawak) and Kota Kinabalu (Sabah).
From Ipoh’s Sultan Azlan Shah Airport, the airline will operate direct flights to Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 4.

In related news, the Malaysian government, the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia were recently re-elected to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
Elections held on Sept 30 during the 42nd Session of the ICAO general assembly in Montreal, Canada saw Malaysia securing 154 votes.
This earned Malaysia the seventh seat out of 14 Part III positions for the 2025-2028 term. It also marks Malaysia’s seventh consecutive term on the ICAO Council since 2007.
The three local airlines – Malaysia Aviation Group (Malaysia Airlines and Firefly), Air Asia and Batik Air – have all expressed their strong support to ICAO, as well their continuous commitment to improving and developing the country’s aviation industry.
