Spotted walking the Dior Pre-Fall 2023 runway in Mumbai was Malaysian model Shikin Gomez.

The Malaysian beauty made her name in the Asia's Next Top Model (AsNTM) reality television show, and has since gone on to become a staple in the local fashion scene.

On Instagram, she was seen celebrating her runway debut for the French fashion house.

"Honestly, lost for words," Shikin posted. "Feels like a full circle for it to be in Mumbai, since Mumbai was the first city I was placed in after AsNTM."

She then went on to express her pride at bringing the Malaysian name to an international runway.

Shikin, who is of Malay-Indian heritage, added that it was especially significant as she could also represent the people who "look" like her.

The Dior runway show was held at Mumbai’s Gateway of India monument, a ceremonial arch-monument built in the early 20th century in the style of 16th-century Gujarati architecture.

As for the designs, they celebrated Indian sartorial tradition. Spotted were Nehru collar shirting and sari-inspired gowns. Even a Dior Toile De Jouy fabric was reimagined with a tropical Indian landscape.

Shikin, 30, was named runner up for the fifth season of AsNTM in 2017. She grew up in Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

Just last year, she tied the knot with entrepreneur Rami Aladdin. The couple's glamorous wedding took place in Langkawi, where Shikin was seen walking barefoot in a breathtaking wedding dress by local designer Alia Bastamam.
