He seemed immortal, yet Kenzo Takada died on Sunday (Oct 4) due to complications from Covid-19.
Known to be the first Japanese designer to conquer Paris fashion, he is well respected by those within the industry. The creative genius also stood out for his signature floral prints.
That's just the tip of the iceberg. As a magician of colours, Takada also knew how to mix prints, as well as cultures, like no other. After all, his Kenzo label (which was later sold to fashion conglomerate LVMH) is famed the world the over.

In tributem, here is a look back at a past interview.
Meeting him on the occasion of the launch of a book retracing his life and career, it was a poignant memory. Takada celebrated his 80th birthday in February 2019 in a joyful atmosphere, surrounded by his friends, who were treated on the occasion to his legendary smile.
