Pertussis (whooping cough) is an “old” disease that has resurfaced despite effective triple antigen (diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis, or DTaP) vaccination that is available nationwide.
It is a highly-contagious disease caused by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis.
