StarChild: Shower your pets with some tender, loving care

Flora Sia, 10

Do you own a pet? Do you have a cat, dog, rabbit, bird or fish as your pet? How's your relationship with your pet?

We hope you take good care of your pets by showering them with lots of TLC (tender loving care).

Pets are a great way to teach children to be responsible. While children love to own a pet, it is important for them to take care of their pets: to feed them and make sure they are well.

We hope Starchild readers are doing their part in caring for their pets.

Love Your Pet Day was celebrated yesterday. This special day focuses on giving extra care to pets. This could mean giving them a few extra strokes with the brush while grooming or washing their beddings or cages.

Let’s hear what our young pet lovers have to say on the topic, Love Your Pet Day.

"My pet cat is named Benjoe. He is an orange-coloured cat. Did you know that cats can rotate their ears up to 180 degrees? Besides that, the hearing of an average cat is at least five times clearer than a human? I also have a pet fish called Satellite," says Amira Qaireena Norrizal, 11.

This week's theme:

Imagine if you can design your own tree house. What would it look like? Would it look like the tree house from the fantasy movie, Bridge To Terabithia, or the Cutie Mark Crusaders clubhouse from TV animated series, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic? Would it be a multi-storey design with glow fairy lights? How about a do-it-yourself tree house featuring recyclable material? Tell us about it. All you need to do is colour the drawing and send it to us.

All letters must carry your full name, age (open to children 12 and below only), gender, e-mail, phone contact and address. Please write your name behind the drawing, and the topic, My Tree House, on the envelope. All letters must reach us by March 6. Send your letters to:
