School holidays offer families, especially those with young children, a chance to step away from busy schedules and spend some quality time together.
This month, one movie outing hopes to add a little more to that family time, just in time for the upcoming school break.
A charity screening of Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie will be taking place on Aug 29 at GSC IOI Mall Damansara, Selangor, bringing families together for an entertaining afternoon while supporting efforts to improve the lives of vulnerable children and mothers.
Organised by OrphanCare Foundation, a non-profit organisation working to ensure that every child grows up in the care of a loving family, the screening will encourage families to reflect on the value of time spent together as well as the importance of giving kids a sense of love and belonging.
“We aspire to bring families together by encouraging family members to take some time off to spend quality time together.
“As we are now at the start of the school holidays, we hope parents can enjoy a breakaway from their routine and spend it with their children, to ensure that however busy they (the parents) are, they will always have time for them (the children),” says OrphanCare Foundation general manager Zakiah A. Rahman.
Movie with a message
The latest film in the series, the movie is a sequel to Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie and follows the titular heroic group of pups as they crash-land on a dinosaur island after getting caught in a storm.
When greedy exploitation by the villain threatens to trigger a massive volcanic eruption, the crew – teaming up with a local pup – must race against time to protect the island and its inhabitants from total destruction.
While the story is packed with plenty of action and adventure, its themes and values are what organisers hope young children will take away from the experience.
“The movie goes beyond the big screen by inspiring children with meaningful lessons on kindness, teamwork, courage and helping others,” says OrphanCare Foundation advocacy, communications and fundraising manager Adlinna Abdul Alim.
Families attending the screening can also spend time in a child-friendly Play Hall and meet the team behind the foundation’s advocacy work.
Additionally, OrphanCare hopes this event will introduce families to the importance of family-based care and its efforts to support children and mothers facing difficult circumstances.
“Each ticket sold represents a step towards creating greater awareness of our mission – to give every child the opportunity to grow up in a loving home,” Adlinna adds.
Tickets for the charity screening are now available, with all proceeds going to efforts supporting children and mothers in need through various programmes carried out by the foundation.
