Hong Kong singer Law Kar Ying has dismissed rumours claiming his wife, actress Liza Wang, has passed away.
In a recent web interview, the 79-year-old said he had no idea where the speculation began, calling it “fabricated” and “absurd”.
Law also laughed off repeated death hoaxes about himself, saying: “I believe everything happens for a reason. Maybe I should thank the people spreading these rumours. Perhaps the Gods think I’m already gone, so they wouldn’t come looking for me.”
He joked that after surviving multiple cancer battles over the past two decades, he wondered if all these hoaxes have somehow made him stronger.
“Could I have developed antibodies because of the rumours?” he quipped.
For the record, Wang – who married Law in 2009 – sparked concern earlier this month after she was seen requiring the support of her husband and another staff member to walk at a concert.
Fans also noted that the 78-year-old looked noticeably weaker and less energetic than usual as she greeted the crowd.
Meanwhile, Law previously revealed in an interview with Chinese media last year that he has been diagnosed with cancer for the fourth time and has opted to forgo chemotherapy.
The opera singer was diagnosed with stage three liver cancer in 2004 and underwent a liver removal surgery to save his life.
In 2014, a routine medical checkup revealed a 2cm tumour in Law’s liver. He was also diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2019.
