Hong Kong actor Benjamin Yuen is currently in Malaysia to shoot the upcoming local action movie Black Ops.
Helmed by Malaysian filmmaker Syafiq Yusof and Hong Kong director Keian Chui, the project brings together a strong regional cast, featuring Sharnaaz Ahmad, Elizabeth Tan, Andy Teh and more.
It also includes Datuk Yusof Haslam and renowned Hong Kong filmmaker Louis Koo as executive produces.
Speaking to local media, Yuen – who plays a gang member named Prinze Chow in the film – revealed that language is the biggest hurdle, as nearly 80% of the dialogue in the film is delivered in Malay.
"To prepare, I'd listen to the crew's recordings daily and do my best to memorise my lines," the 44-year-old said.
He also spoke about his personal life, saying that he'll do anything to support his family and newborn.
For the record, Yuen and his wife, TVB star Bowie Cheung, welcomed a baby boy in November last year. The couple, who married in 2020, shares another two-year-old son.
In the interview held in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (Jan 6), Yuen shared that although he misses his children during his time here, he regularly communicates with them through video calls.
Slated for a theatrical release at the end of the year, Black Ops promises high-octane action, with Yuen having three major action sequences himself.
When asked if he took precautionary measures during filming to avoid worrying his family, he replied: "I don't hold back when I'm working, but I always follow professional guidance and try to do my best within my capabilities."
