Hong Kong actor Ray Lui recently made a rare public appearance with his son Sin Yeung while travelling in mainland China.
The pair were in Guangxi to pay respects to their ancestors.
Several videos circulating online showed Lui receiving a warm welcome from local villagers.
The 68-year-old was described as down-to-earth and gracious, warmly greeting everyone and readily accommodating photo requests.
Sin Yeung, 24, stayed close to his father throughout the visit and was seen holding an umbrella to shield him from the rain.
According to HK01, the Lui family's earliest ancestor migrated from Fujian to Luchuan in Guangxi, before eventually settling in Lianjiang, Guangdong.
In a speech, Lui revealed that this was his first visit to Luchuan and expressed delight upon learning that over 100,000 descendants of the Lui clan reside in the county.
He also introduced his son to the crowd, saying: "He's a very thoughtful person."
Despite being born in Vietnam, Lui – who holds a Hong Kong citizenship – shared that his heart remains deeply connected to China.
"Those of us with the surname Lui have many future generations, and we'll continue to carry forward our patriotic spirit.
"We must learn to care for our compatriots, support our nation, and hope it continues to prosper," he said.
For the record, Lui shares his son with Chinese businesswoman Yang Xiaojuan, whom he married in 2001.
While the father-son duo occasionally attended events together in the past, they have rarely been seen in public together in recent years.
