Hong Kong entertainer Natalis Chan has shared his reflections on life and death, expressing a calm and positive outlook on ageing.
In a recent video, the 75-year-old spoke openly about euthanasia, saying he supports the idea as it gives one autonomy over their own lives.
"Euthanasia means your life is in your own hands," he added.
Commenting on the passing of several veteran figures in Hong Kong's entertainment industry in recent months, Chan said he doesn't dwell too heavily on such losses as death is inevitable.
"Birth, ageing, illness and death are the only things that are beyond our control. Can you decide when you want to fall sick or when you want to die?" he questioned.
It's worth mentioning that Chan has previously had a close brush with death.
In 1982, the Flirting Scholar 2 (2010) star was hospitalised for 40 days after being caught in a fire accident during a rehearsal for TVB's anniversary show.
"The skin on my hands completely burned off. My face and body were badly burned too.
"Fortunately, I was wearing a helmet, but doctors said I needed skin grafts," he said in a past interview with mainland Chinese media.
Although four decades have passed since the accident, Chan said the scars he sustained were still visible even until today.
For the record, Chan – who's married to former TVB artiste Cecilia Wong – retired from acting in 2022 and has since reduced his appearances as a host on television programmes.
In recent years, he has focused more on the mainland Chinese market, frequently sharing glimpses of his daily life through short videos on social media.
