Hong Kong actor Gabriel Harrison's wife Effie Mok has died after a battle with liver cirrhosis, according to a report by Hong Kong newspaper Headline Daily on Thursday on Nov 27.

The news comes nearly three weeks after Harrison, 52, appealed for financial help to fund his wife's liver transplant, which cost around HK$1.5mil (RM795,896).

On Nov 8, the TVB star said he had raised HK$700,000 (RM371,510) with the help of friends but still required additional funds.

He tearfully shared that his wife was in critical condition, with doctors warning that the following days would be crucial for the transplant.

After spending 20 days at Queen Mary Hospital, Mok was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Guangzhou's Zhongshan Hospital for further treatment.

With the help of industry friends – including Aaron Kwok, Louis Koo, Eric Tsang and more – Harrison eventually raised over HK$1mil (RM530,728).

Mok was reported to be in stable condition on Nov 12 while awaiting a suitable liver donor.

Harrison first met Mok, a makeup artist, while working in Beijing in 2012. The couple married in 2017.
