Veteran Hong Kong star Benz Hui passed away on Oct 28 at the age of 76, following multiple organ failure caused by cancer.

Throughout his remarkable 55-year career, the beloved actor was admired not only for his talent but also for his optimism and wisdom in life.

In recent years, Hui and his daughter Charmaine, 28, had delighted fans by sharing on social media glimpses of their daily life together.

He often posted thoughtful reflections on life too.

A short video posted on Hui’s Xiaohongshu account on Oct 10, just weeks before his passing, is now being seen as his “farewell message” to fans.

In the recording, Hui spoke about the importance of cherishing time and using it wisely to improve one’s life.

“The world is never fair. The only thing fair is time. If you keep going through life without reading, exercising, managing your spendings, or having any goals, hobbies and expectations, your life will never improve,” he said.

The award-winning TVB star went on to encourage viewers to read more, work hard to earn a better living and worry less about things that don’t truly matter.

“When good luck finally comes your way, you’ll feel that you truly deserve it,” he concluded.

The clip resonated deeply with viewers, accumulating over 100,000 likes and more than 20,000 comments from fans mourning his loss.

On Nov 4, Charmaine said she’ll be retaining all of Hui’s social media platforms, so that fans could enjoy tidbits of her father's life and cherish the joyful spirit he was known for.

Hui’s funeral is scheduled for Nov 17 at the Po Fook Memorial Hall in Tai Wai, Hong Kong, followed by a cremation ceremony the next day.
