Former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and American pop star Katy Perry have set the internet on fire after pictures of them kissing on a yacht went viral.

In one of the pictures, a shirtless Trudeau, 53, and a swimsuit-clad Perry, 40, were seen cuddling, while another showed him with his hand on her rear.

Tabloid The Daily Mail, which first reported the news on Oct 12, said the couple were sailing on Perry’s 24m yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara, California, in late September.

A witness told The Daily Mail: “She pulled up her boat next to a small public whale-watching boat, then they started making out. I didn’t realise who she was with until I saw the tattoo on the guy’s arm, and I immediately realised it was Justin Trudeau.”

Trudeau’s left arm ink is a combination of two tattoos – a globe and a Haida raven, to represent the native people in Canada’s Haida Gwaii territory.

This development comes nearly three months after Trudeau and Perry were spotted dining together at a high-end restaurant in Montreal on July 28, sparking talks of romance.

An eyewitness told entertainment website TMZ that the pair enjoyed cocktails and shared several dishes, including one with lobster.

Days after that, Trudeau attended Perry’s sold-out concert in Canada.

Perry recently split from actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.

Trudeau and his former wife Sophie Gregoire separated in 2023 after an 18-year marriage.
