Congratulations are in order for Malaysian singer Shila Amzah, who recently announced that she's expecting a child with her husband, social media influencer Muhammad Ubaidillah Mohd Zulkefli.

In an Instagram Reel on Thursday (Jan 4), Shila said she and Ubai initially chose to keep her pregnancy under the wraps as they wanted to ensure everything was running smoothly before breaking the news.

“Thank you to everyone who had sent their well wishes previously. Please pray I (have a safe delivery) and that everything is made easy,” the 33-year-old wrote.

In the video, Ubai, 26, shared that the past year had been bittersweet for the both of them.

He said: “It was the year (Shila and I) decided to get married. My brother passed away before our engagement ceremony, followed by my mum who passed away days before our wedding.

“Our story in 2023 has concluded, and we want to start 2024 on a (happy) note.”

Many netizens have left comments under the post, congratulating the couple on the happy news.

"Shila seems so happy with this marriage. Finally she found someone that really makes her happy genuinely," one netizen wrote.

Another said: "Shila is always glowing whenever she's with Ubai. Alhamdulillah, congratulations. Wishing you all the best for your pregnancy."

"Congratulations lovebirds! May everything go smoothly throughout the pregnancy and after," added another.

According to mStar, The Star’s Malay-language news portal, Shila previously told the public to respect her after netizens kept making speculations about her change in weight.

The report added that many made assumptions about the singer being pregnant, though she didn’t deny nor confirm anything at the time.

Shila and Ubai tied the knot on Aug 5, 2023.

The Patah Seribu hitmaker was previously married to Haris Edraki Elia in 2018. However, the relationship ended in divorce in 2022.

The former couple share a son, Seth Uwais.
