Malaysian singer Shila Amzah has announced her engagement to social media influencer, Ubai MZ.
In an Instagram post on Saturday (May 27), Shila uploaded a photo of her together with her 25-year-old fiance along with a caption that read: “Ubai and (I) wanted an intimate engagement ceremony. Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly.”
In her post, the 32-year-old songstress expressed gratitude to her family, friends and people who helped organise the ceremony.
She also thanked those who wished her and Ubai well.
“May we have the strength to face any (challenges) that may come our way,” she wrote.
At press time, Shila’s post had received over 104,900 likes.
Many local celebrities including Alif Satar, Anuar Zain and Liza Hanam also took to the replies to congratulate the couple.
Last Wednesday (May 24), Shila penned a heartwarming letter to Ubai, whose real name is Muhammad Ubaidillah Mohd Zulkefli.
In her post, she thanked her beau for giving her the “most beautiful five months”.
“You are the perfect match for me. Thank you for all the love you have given to Seth (my son). I wish you the best, and I pray that everything you wish for will be given to you.
“Thank you for everything. I will keep these memories forever,” the Jauh Hati hitmaker wrote.
According to reports, Shila confirmed her relationship with Ubai in a TikTok Live earlier in February.
In an interview with Harian Metro, Ubai revealed that he has known the singer since 2011.
"We became close around 2014, but our friendship became much stronger last year after she went through a difficult phase in her life (divorce).
"As a friend, I always want the best for Shila and to be by her side whenever she needs someone to vent to," he told the publication.
Shila was previously married to a Malaysian man named Haris Idraki Elias in 2018. However, the relationship didn’t work out and ended with a divorce last February.
The former couple share a son, Seth Uwais, who turns four this August.
