Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh started the new year with some happy news as she announced that she is now a grandmother.

Yeoh, who broke the news in an Instagram post on Tuesday (Jan 2), took to her social media account to share three new photos of the momentous occasion.

The first showed the Oscar winner and her French husband Jean Todt, 77, posing with the latter's 46-year-old son Nicolas and his partner Darina in what appeared to be a hospital room.

In the second photo, Yeoh could be seen smiling at baby Maxime as she cradled her grandchild in her arms.

She also posted a heartwarming snap of Todt, whom she married last July, and Nicolas playing with Maxime.

Yeoh, 61, simply captioned her Instagram post: "Love love love."

Many netizens have left comments congratulating Yeoh and Todt on becoming grandparents and wished them a happy new year.

"So happy for your whole family. Congratulations, Michelle," one netizen wrote.

Another added: "Congratulations to both grandparents and parents on the new bundle of joy. What a way to bring in the new year."

"Isn't it the most amazing thing in the world? Becoming a grandma has been (eye-opening) for me, and I'm completely smitten with my grandson," another commented.

Yeoh previously caused a stir after posting a photo of a baby's foot on Instagram, leading fans to mistakenly assume she and Todt had become parents.

The Everything Everywhere All At Once actress later shared in a separate post that the baby in question is actually her grandchild.
