PETALING JAYA: Oscar-winning actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh is back home in Malaysia and making the most of her time with family and friends.
She first hinted at her return on Aug 25 after uploading a photo of herself at the launch of a public educational health campaign called MyPelindung.
“It is good to be home and together with healthcare professionals who have worked tirelessly in protecting us for a healthier and safer nation,” she wrote on Instagram.
In the days that followed, the 61-year-old uploaded a series of pictures depicting precious moments spent with both family and friends in Malaysia.
Photos she posted last Sunday include a framed drawing of herself holding her Best Actress trophy at the 95th Academy Awards.
She took home the highly coveted statuette in March for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Another photo showed a wedding cake topped with mini figures of Yeoh and her husband, former president of the International Automobile Federation Jean Todt.
The couple sealed their 19-year courtship with their marriage in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 27.
On Monday, Yeoh shared pictures of herself enjoying a meal with her mother Datin Janet Yeoh and other family members in her hometown of Ipoh.
“Love mum and of course she fed me. And my siblings too,” the star wrote.
Yeoh’s most recent Instagram update yesterday showed the actress meeting up with her friend David Tan for lunch before heading off to Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung’s concert at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
These photos Yeoh shared were taken days before as the MyPelindung campaign was launched on Aug 17 whereas Cheung’s final concert in KL took place on Aug 20.
Many Malaysians warmly welcomed Yeoh’s return in the comments.
Some also said that they hoped to bump into the actress during her time back in the country.
“Family is where the heart is, while Malaysian food comforts the soul! Welcome home, Michelle,” one netizen wrote.
“Enjoy your visit and bonding time with family,” another added.
