Tiffany Haddish told Starlifestyle during a virtual interview that she takes Covid-19 safety measures seriously to ensure she doesn’t contract the virus again.

“I had caught Covid earlier in the game. So, I was ready for it,” said the 42-year-old stand-up comedian.

“If it came again, I knew what I needed to do. And it didn't come again, thank the Lord. And I kept myself healthy.”

Back in September 2020, the American actress revealed that she had the virus when someone on the movie set she was on had it.

Although the test came out negative at first, a second test was positive and she had to self-quarantine.

Haddish – whose boisterous personality is apparent even on Zoom – admitted that she found it hard to be in lockdown.

“This pandemic, it's bananas, you know.

“There's so much fear all around. I don't want to get sick, I don't get sick. I have a pretty strong immune system.

“But my thing is, ‘I want to be around other people’. Yes, I like being by myself too, but not for over 90 days.”

In that sense, Haddish welcomed the chance to be part of the comedy series The Afterparty, which premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday (Jan 28).

“Well, it was nice to be out of the house,” she said of her time filming the show after being in isolation.

In The Afterparty, Haddish plays a detective investigating a murder case of a celebrity. The suspects are the victim’s former schoolmates who have gathered for a reunion.

Besides Haddish, it also stars Sam Richardson, Zoe Chao, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, Jamie Demetriou and Dave Franco.

Soon after our virtual interview, Haddish made headlines in the United States when it was reported that she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Jan 14.

In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, Haddish spoke about her arrest with host Jimmy Fallon.

The actress who recently broke up with artiste Common after a year of dating started with a joke: “I can say this, Jimmy... I've been praying to God to send me a new man. A good man. And God went ahead and sent me four ... in uniform."

Haddish then added: “And now I got a really great lawyer, and we're going to work it out.

"I've got to get my asking of things to God a little better!"

The first three episodes of The Afterparty are available on Apple TV+ starting today (Jan 28), followed by one new episode every Friday.
