Jackie Chan who learned his trade at China Drama Academy, a talent school of hard knocks, is not impressed with how some of the younger actors are behaving on set these days.
The 67-year-old acting legend – who does multiple takes for that single perfect shot – criticised the younger generation of stars at an interview for a Chinese award ceremony recently.
Without mentioning any names, the Hong Kong star called his juniors as “unprofessional and not dedicated to their work”.
“I won’t say who it is, but lately, our actors don't want to sweat, can’t do wire stunts, and can’t do dangerous things,” Chan said, as reported by several news portals.
“They want to show action and look good, yet they do not want to experience any hardship.”
According to the reports, the martial artist mentioned that he gets very angry when he hears about some of the youngsters' work ethics, which end up affecting everyone else on set. For example, when they are often “the last to arrive and the first to leave”.
The Hong Kong superstar theorised that the young actors have been “pampered” by the people around them, who have allowed them to “live too happily”.
However, Chan hoped for the better – encouraging young actors to be respectful and considerate to crew members, and not to “say they are leaving as soon as they arrive”.
He added that one has to put in the work and remain dedicated if they want to become successful.
