Those who have watched the two seasons of K-drama Kingdom on Netflix know the zombies in this series are unlike any of the undead we’ve seen previously.

They are ferocious, nimble and most shockingly they move really, really fast.

In short, those shuffling zombies featured in many series and films before Kingdom have become a distant memory.

While there is no news yet of a third season of Kingdom, Netflix has released a special episode titled Kingdom: Ashin Of The North starring top Korean actress Jun Ji-hyun.

During a virtual press conference that StarLifestyle was invited to, the 39-year-old actress was asked if she was ever scared of the actors playing the zombies.

Jun – who is a huge fan of Kingdom – said that she wasn’t afraid of them at all.

“In fact, even before we began to shoot (Ashin Of The North), one of the things that I was most excited about was coming face to face with the actors dressed as zombies," the multiple award winning actress revealed.

“When I got on the set, I realised just how much trouble all of the actors were going through in order to present themselves as convincing zombies.

“And, I don't know if I can say this, but I begged them for pictures as well.

“So, I was able to take pictures with the zombie actors and brag about it to my friends and family,” said a smiling Jun, who has starred in popular K-dramas such as My Love From The Star and Legend Of The Blue Sea.

The 92-minute Kingdom episode expands on Jun’s character, Ashin, that viewers first caught a glimpse of at the end of the series' second season.

It starts with Ashin as a young girl (Kim Si-a) living in the northern part of the country, before getting to adult Ashin, as portrayed by Jun.

Kingdom: Ashin Of The North explores the origin of the resurrection plant that brings the dead back to life, which ultimately started the zombie plague seen in Kingdom.
