Even before Korean singer Kim Jong-kook posted any video to his newly-launched YouTube channel, he reportedly gained 54,000 subscribers.
On June 16, the Running Man star announced on his Instagram account that he would be launching his own YouTube channel, which he’s calling Gym Jong Kook.
On June 17, he posted his first video and the number of subscribers kept going up.
Within 20 hours, the video had gotten 460K views and the channel had 250K subscribers.
At the start of the video, he says, smiling: “Hi, I’m Kim Jong-kook. I finally started a YouTube channel.”
After a short clip of him doing various weight exercises, the video shows Kim sharing that he has helped other stars to work out like Rain and Sung Si-kyung.
“I recently taught Sung Si-kyung how to work out. He really enjoyed it and asked me if he could work out with me more often,” he mentions.
In short, Kim loves exercising and he wants to help others to exercise .. hence the channel.
When he appeared in an episode of the Master In The House back in April, the 45-year-old stated why exercise means so much to him.
“I think that it’s important to find something you love besides work," he said.
“It doesn’t have to be exercise. If you have that, then you can find balance in your work and stay healthy for a long time.
“The reason that I was able to have a long entertainment career without scandal was because of exercise.”
